Belfast Continental Christmas Market

The beautiful Belfast Christmas Market, which opened on Sat 20 Nov, will be supporting two of the Lord Mayor’s charities; Positive Life NI which is dedicated to supporting people living with & affected by HIV, and Youth Lyric.

The Market has become a significant contributor to the local economy. 1,261,666 visitors came to the market in 2019, & the overall gross economic impact was a staggering £75.7m-a huge benefit to our city.

This year the food court at the Market makes a welcome return, as does the vintage Helter Skelter, offering stunning views, & the much-loved carousel. There are also terrific photo opportunities to be had in the amazing Snow Globe.

Local food & craft favourites will also be returning including Papas Minerals, Rossi’s Ice Cream, Grilled Cheese Toasties, Whisht Filled Irish Soda & Potato Farls, & the incredible social enterprise “Outside In” helping the homeless.

As well as providing local flavour, & with many “friends and family” connections across a variety of stalls & products, the Market still offers something different with 32 nationalities from all over the world bringing all sorts food and gift ideas: crêpes from France, Dutch pancakes ‘Poffertjes’, simply delicious with the traditional topping of sugar & butter, Belgian chocolates, an exotic selection of ostrich, wild boar & crocodile burgers, bratwurst from the iconic Schwenkegrill, Spanish paella, & cheeses & Italian cured meats from Italy Gnam. Visitors can also treat themselves to warming Gluhwein from the prize winning Kochem vineyard located in the Mosel Valley, or end the day in one of the bars serving local & continental drinks.

For those who need a momentary escape from the hustle & bustle, a Quiet Room has been created, & the JAM ‘Just A Minute’ Card, a social innovation from NOW Group, is available here or the app can also be downloaded. This offers a discreet way for users to tell traders that sometimes they need a little extra time and patience.
