Lanting Chinese
Lanting is a fantastic new Chinese restaurant in the heart of Belfastās Queenās Quarter. Serving up delicious plates packed with authentic Chinese flavours, the restaurant offers a terrific variety of options, from its extensive menu. We were seated in the opulently appointed dining room, with its dramatic red and black colour scheme, clever lighting touches, and trickling water features.
We started with some excellent cocktails to accompany our appetisers of crispy, sesame-topped Prawn Toast, prettily presented Wasabi King Prawns served in shot glasses, golden, sweet Caramel Chicken Wings, and Dim Sum of Fried Prawn Dumplings.
Then came the culinary theatre of the sensational, not-to-be-missed, Signature Beijing Roast Duck. Also known as Peking Duck, this iconic dish is presented and carved at the table; the dark, glossy skin, tender flavourful meat, and delicate pancake wrappings with sweet hoisin sauce, cucumber, and scallions, was utterly delicious.
To follow, we enjoyed a Signature Monkfish Duo in black pepper sauce and wasabi, a whole Thai Steamed Sea Bass, served on the bone with chilli, lime and herbs, and some fragrant, spicy Crispy Mala Tofu.
And we finished our meal with a plate of Fried Ice Cream to share, along with a couple of shots of Chinese Wine!
For stylish surroundings, friendly service, and superb Chinese cuisine, Lanting absolutely hits the spot! Many thanks for an excellent experience.

On the ground floor of Crowne Plaza Belfast is the River Bar Bistro & Lounge, an all day dining experience serving sharing plates, deli sandwiches and panini, stone baked pizzas, burgers, and chef’s homemade classics.
The stylish bistro has been designed with nods to the roaring twenties, and we were seated at a beautiful table next to an art deco fireplace which was impressively marbled and mirrored-simply stunning! Thereās also a range of booths and sofa areas, ideal for a catch up with a cocktail or two.
And speaking of which, we started our evening with a couple of cocktails ourselves: an Old Fashioned and a Watermelon Margarita Special, to accompany our starters of Sweet Potato Falafel Salad with lettuce, carrot, cherry tomato, red chilli, coriander, spiced cashew nuts, & cranberry, and a spicy Gambas Pil Pil with garlic, chilli, and toasted sourdough.
We ordered a delicious bottle of lighted-bodied Ropiteau Les Plants Noble Pinot Noir to enjoy with our āTaste of Spice Clubā main courses. The Crowne Plaza is renowned for the quality and authenticity of its Asian dishes, and we were very impressed with both the Butter Chicken in a creamy spiced tomato sauce, with pilau rice & naan, and the Teriyaki Salmon with noodles, pak choi, and sugar snap peas, which was fragrant with sesame and soy.
And finally, the Chocolate Brownie with vanilla ice cream, and the Raspberry Frangipane Tart, were the perfect way to finish the meal.
The River Bar Bistro & Lounge is open daily, with food service from 12:00 – 21:30, and drinks till late.

Recently, we had the opportunity to join in with a brilliant group of whiskey fans on one of the very first āTours and Talesā experiences!
These small-group whiskey and food tours are packed with the culture, stories, and flavours of Northern Ireland that make every dram unforgettable.

There are currently three options available; Bushmills and āThe Whiskey Hotelā, Copeland and The North Down Coast, but we set off to explore Belfast’s Titanic Distillers and to enjoy lunch and a curated whiskey tasting in the Titanic Hotel.
We were collected at a designated pick-up location, and had a light breakfast snack to enjoy on the way, before we arrived at the distillery, in the Pump House of Thompson Dock, where we had a fully guided tour, learning about the history of the building and its role in the construction of that famous ship. We were then guided through the distillation process, before we were seated to sample some of Titanicās award-winning spirits, and a fabulous cocktail creation.
After the distillery tour, the nearby Titanic Hotel, which was once the headquarters and drawing office of Harland and Wolff, was the perfect venue for a delicious lunch. We were seated in Lord Pirrieās Office a stunning period private dining space, where we tucked into dishes such as burgers and chips, halloumi flatbreads, vegetarian curry, and duck ragu.
We were then treated to a curated tasting experience, trying a number of carefully selected whiskeys, including Bushmills 12, Dunvilleās Single Malt, Hinch Oloroso Sherry Cask, and Shortcross Single Malt, designed to showcase the superb quality of Irish whiskey-making today.
After the tasting we were transported to our drop off point with a āTours & Talesā gift as a souvenir of a fantastic day.
