And we have a giveaway where you can have the chance of winning 1 of 2 amazing Italian Cheese hampers HERE

The ITA is the governmental agency that supports the business development of Italian companies abroad and promotes foreign investment in Italy.
The Italian Cheese Promotion is an international campaign, currently running in France, Japan, and about to launch in the USA. The UK has been a key part of our promotion where we’ve showcased our cheeses in Lancashire, Cheshire, Yorkshire, Cumbria, Edinburgh, and Glasgow.
GIOVANNI SACCHI, DIRECTOR OF THE ITALIAN TRADE AGENCY IN LONDON, SAYS:
“We’re absolutely delighted to be showcasing some fantastic Italian cheeses at Ciao Italy Gnam and at the Belfast Christmas Market. For this promotion we have worked with Assolatte, the premier association of Italian Cheesemongers. We will be displaying some of the finest PDO cheeses and many others as well, ones that you won’t always find in your UK supermarket. “
“The aim of this promotion is to get people more familiar with a wider range of Italian cheeses, some of which may be new to the British consumer such as the Provolone Valpadana, Scamorza, L’Italico and Pecorino Toscano.”
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be showcasing these cheeses in Belfast as a part of our UK-wide and international campaign. We’ve recently participated in the Stafford Cheese fair too, where people literally went crazy for Taleggio and Asiago, as well as the very well known Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano. Our most recent promotion in Glasgow was also an incredible success, where we had thousands of people tasting and learning about our Italian cheeses.
The world of DOP and PDO cheeses and why they’re so important in supporting Italian producers.
What does DOP and PDO mean?
DOP stands for “Denominazione di Origine Protetta,” and in English this translates to “Protected Designation of Origin.” PDO for short. These labels are like a stamp of authenticity and quality for Italian products, especially cheeses. They ensure that the cheese is made in a specific region using traditional methods, high-quality ingredients, and stringent quality controls.
WHY IT MATTERS
Supporting PDO cheeses means you’re supporting local Italian communities and preserving centuries-old traditions. These labels not only guarantee the cheese’s origin but also celebrate the unique flavours and techniques of each region. It’s a way of safeguarding cultural heritage.
THE FLAVOUR OF TRADITION
When you choose PDO cheeses, you’re choosing cheese that tells a story. It’s a slice of history, a taste of tradition and a connection to the passionate producers who pour their hearts into every wheel. It’s the real taste of Italy.
Let’s celebrate the TRUE TASTE of Italy together
Supporting PDO cheeses isn’t just about savouring exceptional flavours; it’s about preserving a way of life. So, as you indulge in these cheeses during Italian Cheese Week, remember that you’re also preserving a piece of Italy’s culinary heritage.
Cheers to authentic, extraordinary taste!
