The Bay Tree
There must be very few people who haven’t waxed lyrical about The Bay Tree’s iconic Cinnamon Scones at one time or another. But this Holywood café is so much more than that. For a lunchtime treat, The Bay Tree is ideal; Smokey Baba Ganoush on Griddled Cumin & Yoghurt Flatbread with Feta, Crispy Fried Eggs, Pomegranate, Pickled Beetroot, & Hazelnut Dukkah; Spicy Fish Bhajis on Onion Seed Chapati with Raita, Tomato Relish, Lime & Cardamom Rice; a Baby Gem & Pickle Salad, with a side of Crunchy Potato Wedges with Spicy Hilbeh Mayonnaise. Absolutely delicious.

Orto : Cathedral Quarter
Orto is an all-day Pizzabar concept. We visited the Cathedral Quarter venue for a spot of lunch, and we loved it.
We started with some earthy Wild Mushroom & Truffle Arancini on blue cheese aioli with rocket & parmesan.
The pizzas are fabulous: crispy, flavourful, wood-fired, & more than enough for two to share, especially accompanied by an Orto Salad Bowl. We plumped for the special-Rosemary Roasted Baby Potatoes on a red base with fior di latte, braised leeks, pickled courgette ribbons, salsa verde, pea shoots, & a drizzle of garlic oil.

Love of the Lough
What a privilege & pleasure to be invited to The Strand Arts Centre to open the inaugural exhibition by talented artist Heather Green. Zuni Art is her creative concept, & the beauty & power of Belfast Lough her inspiration for a series of nine contemporary portraits; abstract works depicting fantasy creatures through photography & mixed media. The launch was a wonderful event in the brilliant upstairs exhibition space, flooded with natural light, just perfect for displaying the artworks. The Zuni Art exhibition continues at the Strand this week:
7 March 12:00-18:00
8 March 12:00-18:00
11 March 16:00-20:00
12 March 15:00-20:00
