This weekās Tuesday Goodie Bag features
The Dufferin Arms
The Dufferin Arms is a family run pub serving tasty bistro-style bar food, and we recently spent a terrific evening there with friends, enjoying the venueās food, drink, and hospitality.
We were seated in a cosy booth, where we started our meal with a couple of sharing plates; a Humous and Sweet Potato Dipping Bowl with mixed olives, Duff salad, basil mayo, and sweet potato rostis, and a dish of Smoky Aubergine Nachos-BBQ aubergine & lentil chilli on corn chips, topped with vegan cheesy bechamel, guacamole, jalapenos & coriander.
Our main courses included lightly battered Argentinian Red Tail Scampi with slaw, chunky chips, and a blue cheese dip, hearty Aubergine Parmigiana topped with a spicy, tomatoey, arrabiatta sauce, parmesan, fresh mozzarella, salad, and garlic roast potatoes, and a crispy-skinned Pan Fried Seabass with smashed garlic & herb potatoes, glazed greens, and a lemon, chilli and garlic cream.
The menu also includes lots of other crowd-pleasing dishes to suit all tastes, with plenty of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
The kitchen is open 7 days a week,
Sunday to Wednesday 12.00-20.00, and Thursday to Saturday 12.00-21.00.

The Practitioner
This familiar Victorian building on the corner of University Street and Botanic Avenue has recently been updated and transformed into a brilliant new hospitality venue, The Queenās Hotel. Situated in the heart of Belfast’s Queenās Quarter, the hotel is conveniently located near the University, Botanic Gardens, and Lyric Theatre.
The hotelās Practitioner bar and restaurant serves fantastic small plates and main courses by chef Artur Fron, renowned for his incredible Street Food Atelier menus.
We called in on a gorgeously sunny day, and took full advantage of the outdoor terrace to enjoy a bit of al fresco dining.
The dish of golden Scampi of Patagonian Scallops was drizzled with a Nori Tartare Sauce and served on Fries, the Charred Caesar Salad included salty Kalamata Olives, Parmigiano, plump Anchovies, and crunchy Croutons, and the Charred Halloumi was smothered in a spicy Chilli Jam and pickled Red Onions.
One of our favourite small plates was the Vegan āLambā Spring Rolls with Coconut Raita and Pistachio Dukkah, but the meat dishes are equally delicious; the Crispy Duck on Belgian Waffle with five-spice Maple Syrup, pickled Red Cabbage, and Blackberry Hoisin Sauce, was a sweet and savoury sensation, and the Grilled Picanha Steak was perfectly pink with fresh, zingy Chimichurri, and sea salt.
At The Practitioner, superb food, great drinks, and a casual atmosphere all come together to make The Queenās Hotel the ideal city spot to relax and unwind, and currently there are weekend summer barbecues, and special menu deals to accompany major live sporting events. And make sure you get to meet Gigi, the hotelās resident pooch! Sheās an absolute charmer!
