This week’s Tuesday Goodie Bag features
Urban, Portrush
Urban in Portrush has become one of our go-to spots when we’re looking for a quick tasty bite and excellent, friendly service. It’s a short walk from the town’s beaches, and Portrush Town Hall (where you can experience summer theatre at its finest!)
The menu features contemporary, crowd-pleasing dishes, and we had a few excellent small plates to share from the Starter Section; Pil-Pil prawns in a sizzling garlic, chilli & chorizo butter with baked focaccia, Indian Spiced Cauliflower Fritters with a baby leaf salad and a zingy chimichurri dip, Chinese Duck Spring Roll with an asian noodle salad and a plum dipping sauce, and Crispy Panko-Crumbed Brie with mixed leaf salad and a cranberry, port & orange gel.
We also enjoyed the Crunchy Crumbed Chicken Goujons, with a dip and fries, Pan-Fried Seabass with sautéd tenderstem broccoli, chorizo, king prawns, and lemon & parsley crushed potatoes, and the phenomenally good Chilli & Sour Cream Potatoes on the side.

The Old Inn, Restaurant
The Old Inn’s AA Rosette award-winning restaurant, overseen by executive head chef Andy Turner, offers an exceptional dining experience in elegant surroundings.
Full review here :-
We were seated at a spacious booth at the stained glass windows, where we perused the impressive menu. The Old Inn prides itself in showcasing quality seasonal ingredients in its dishes, and we decided to go for a couple of light, fresh, summery starters; melt-in-the-mouth Yellow Fin Tuna with Green Beans and an Anchovy & Shallot Salad, and a luxuriously creamy North Coast Lobster Caesar Salad, with generous chunks of sweet lobster meat.
For our main courses we had perfectly pink, crispy-skinned Sea Trout with New Potatoes, Summer Cabbage, & Truffle, and a moist Cornfed Chicken with White Pudding, Caramelised Garlic, & Sweetcorn Cream, all accompanied by Roasted Courgettes in Pesto & Chilli, Fried New Potatoes with Roasted Garlic, and golden, crunchy Beer Battered Onion Rings.
And to finish, we indulged ourselves with a sundae glass filled with rich Dark Chocolate Mousse on a base of deliciously bitter Orange & Campari Gel and Caramel Ice Cream, and a Black Cherry & Almond Eclair with Aged Balsamic and a silky smooth Milk Ice Cream.
For relaxed lunches, sophisticated afternoon teas, fine evening dining, and traditional Sunday lunches, with attentive, friendly service, and fantastic food and drink, The Old Inn Restaurant ticks all the boxes.

Mash Direct
Creating brilliant, convenient mealtime favourites, Mash Direct is an independent company started by Martin and Tracy Hamilton at their family-run farm in Comber in 2004.
Using the family’s six-generations of farming expertise, Mash Direct’s 1,400 acres of fields are tailored to growing traditional, heritage vegetables, which are cooked to perfection using specially designed steam cookers on the farm, for the delicious taste and texture of homemade food.
Most products are suitable for vegetarians, are gluten free, and are easy to prepare in the microwave, oven, or air fryer.
Of course, great meals deserve the perfect side, so when we received a
box filled with a selection of Mash Direct favourites, ready to complement everything from comforting classics to quick midweek meals, we were really looking forward to trying them.
And our challenge was to get creative; to pair the products with our favourite dishes, try something new, and share our tastiest combinations!
So what did we come up with?
Watch our reel to find out how to make easy and delicious Prawn & Pea Fishcakes!
We used:
- Mash Direct Champ
- Cooked Prawns
- Peas
- Lemon zest & juice,
- A beaten egg
- Seasoning
- Flour
- Oil for frying
