This charming restaurant and coffee shop, in the pretty Victorian village of Whitehead, has recently undergone a revamp and we were invited down to try out the new menu.
We received a very warm welcome, and couldnāt help but admire the fantastic vaulted wooden ceiling, stained glass windows which created a kaleidoscope of light, and the cheerful floral walls contrasting with the striking cobalt blue paintwork.
The building, which has quite the history, is enjoying a new lease of life providing a local spot for both coffee lovers and foodies alike, and furry friends are also welcome! Thereās a delightful snug with an open fire, outside decking for summertime snacks, and a main cafĆ© to enjoy dishes from the great new menu

The menu has a Light Bites section featuring Chef’s sausage rolls, wraps, sandwiches, loaded nachos, and baked potatoes. We loved the Nachos with Lentil Chilli, cheese & salsa, which had a warm, spicy kick.
Alternatively, there is a terrific selection of Mains and Salads; we chose the summery Beetroot, Halloumi and Orange Salad with rocket, cooked beetroot, orange segments, grilled halloumi, and a honey & orange dressing, and a double-patty Vegan Burger, perfectly chargrilled and served with lettuce, onion, tomato, and vegan mayo in a bap, accompanied by a portion of proper chips.
For those with a sweet tooth, there are fresh scones and tempting traybakes. We enjoyed some delicious bakes: a slice of both the strawberry, and the chocolate fudge cake! The Breakfast menu is served from 09:00 to 12:00, and includes classic fry-ups, breakfast wraps, egg dishes, and French toast. And there are also gluten-free and plant-based options.
Kings Road is a delightful destination to enjoy quality coffee, and delicious dishes, and keep an eye out for evening āthemed takeoversā: the ā80ās Vibesā menu on Fri 30 May looks totally up our street! Neon pink leg-warmers, anyone? Many thanks to the team at Kings Road in the heart of Whitehead for a fabulous lunch.

Situated in the pretty courtyard of Hinch Distillery, chef Gemma Austinās brilliant restaurant āEraā sources the very best produce sourced from across the island of Ireland, championing local farmers and independent growers.
And after great demand from āMamó Patisserieā and āEraā fans alike, the incredible āAfternoon Tea at Eraā has recently been launched. Served in the beautiful Killaney Suite, we were delighted to have been invited to enjoy a superb selection of savoury goods and sweet treats.

We started off with a couple of cocktails: a zingy āRhubarb 75ā, and an alcohol free take on an espresso martini, the āPick Me Upā. Thereās also a great selection of unlimited tea or coffee to enjoy with the beautifully presented plates.
Our choice of savoury dishes included Egg & Cress, and Cheese & Pickle Sandwiches, oozy GougĆØres, and Smoked Salmon Blinis, accompanied by a cup of delicious Spiced Squash, Carrot & Coconut Soup.
The Sweet Treats were utterly indulgent; a creamy Banoffee Dome, crisp, light Pistachio Macaron, a Mixed Berry Cube encased in a white chocolate shell, a crunchy Caramel Ring, and our favourite, the subtly flavoured Candy Nut & Coffee Choux Bun.
Even the scones had a delightfully unexpected flavour profile: no plain or cherry offerings here! The light, fluffy Lemon & White Chocolate Scones were served with soft set jam, whipped cream, and tasted simply divine.
Many thanks to Gemma, Jean and all of their incredible team. A new āEraā of Afternoon Tea has arrived!
