Jumon – October 2026

Jumon

Jumon in Belfast’s Fountain Street is an absolute city centre favourite of ours due to its excellent service, cool decor, and sensational veggie dishes, and we called in recently for a quick meal before a show.

The food menu is divided into three sections-“Smalls”, “Noodles” & “Sweets”, and as the mantra suggested that “the secret to abundance is sharing,” we obeyed and ordered a few smalls between us.

Firstly, White Miso Hummus, with stir fried greens, furikake, fiery chilli oil, and poppadoms for dipping, and “Cigar Rolls” stuffed with aubergine & mozzarella, accompanied by jade mayo & black ketchup.

We also loved the whack of heat from the XO Green Beans, the Kundan Paneer in a butter cashew curry with pickled chilli & crispy shallots, and our favourite dish of the evening, the gochujang-glazed Kkanpoong Tofu with caramelised peanuts.

And to finish, “Full Moon”, a decadent dirty chai tiramisu, with dark chocolate, spiced rum, and hints of coffee and cinnamon.

All washed down with a rather lovely bottle of Borsao Grenache 2024, this was a terrific pre-theatre meal in the heart of the city. “Jumon Dreams” indeed!
