Facing The Waterfront Hall, Millar’s Grill & Seafood is a fantastic new addition to Belfast’s city centre food scene, and we were delighted to have been invited to try the new menu.

We started with a couple of Signature Cocktails; a frothy, citrusy “Sea Lemon”, like a lemon meringue pie in a glass, and a festive “Curiously Fashioned”, smoked and fragrant with Christmassy cinnamon & fig aromas.

We nibbled on some Padron Peppers before our starters arrived; Pan Seared Scallops with a Crab Fritter, Crab Bisque & Pickled Samphire, and Crab & Crayfish Risotto, Crispy Leeks & a Gruyère Cheese Crumb. Both dishes were a sensational celebration of the sea.

Continuing with the seafood theme, the Tuna Steak was perfectly cooked, seared on the outside and moist and pink in the centre, served with Béarnaise Sauce, Fries & Salad, and there’s a terrific Vegan “Fish & Chips” with Tartare Sauce, Mushy Peas, and a slight nod to Asian tempura-style dishes.

To finish, the Baked Alaska is a must; caramelised biscuit ice cream on a ginger and apple sponge, surrounded by a mound of torched Italian meringue! To die for.

The wine list has many excellent bottles, the Trulli Primitivo being a delightfully fruity Italian red, and is exceptional value, as is the Pre-Theatre menu which is available Monday- Saturday.
Using the very best local produce, Millar’s new Lanyon Quay restaurant is a superb showcase of quality seafood & steaks, as well as catering for all tastes and dietary requirements.
