Mollys Yard at the top of Botanic Avenue has a great Christmas Menu, so we called in recently for some lunch.

To start, the Roast Parsnip and Celeriac Soup, the Honeyed Fig, Goats Cheese and Prosciutto Tartlet, and the Sriracha Cauliflower Wings were all top-notch appetisers, but we particularly enjoyed the Vegan Smoked Salmon; an ingenious plant based alternative with vegan cream cheese on Hilden Stout wheaten bread.

Our mains included a perfectly cooked to order Chargrilled Fermanagh Ribeye Steak with Young Buck butter and all the trimmings, Butter Roasted Hake with spinach & garlic gnocchi, sprouts and Portavogie prawns, and a golden Scampi and Chips with tartare sauce.

We were also tempted by two comfort food classics for dessert; a moist, fruity Xmas Pud with brandy sauce and chantilly cream, and a Coconut Rice Pudding with rum caramelised pineapple and toasted almonds.

Molly’s Yard: cosily converted Victorian stables with a warm welcome and a delicious Irish menu championing local produce and suppliers.
