An abbreviation for stereophonic, Stereo, a quirky cafe on the Cregagh Road, is a fantastic recent addition to the area, serving quality coffee and brilliant brunches until 4pm Thursday to Sunday.
With nods to the golden age of analogue recordings, both in the decor and the perfectly pitched playlist, the interior is simply stylish, with a menu to match.
We loved the Breakfast Quesadillas with toasted mushrooms, refried beans, smoked cheese, and folded eggs which had a herby kick of spice, and the smoky Falafel Bowl with hummus, roasted aubergine, marinated cherry tomatoes, house pickles and romesco sauce.
We were also mightily impressed by our neighbour’s choice of Whipped Corn Hummus, on sourdough with charred sweetcorn, & poached eggs.
The iconic band Sparks once sang, “In a sandwich, in a vice,
Stuck with too much paradise,
It’s okay with me, it’s not too bad…In Stereo!”
Not too bad? I’d happily be stuck in Cregagh’s Stereo any day of the week! A foodie paradise indeed.
