Situated within the Georgian courtyard of Ireland’s oldest independent brewery, Hilden Brewery, just 15 mins drive from Belfast, is “The Stables”; a fabulous restaurant and coffee shop, offering quirky brewery weddings, a unique conference & event venue, and a café serving delicious breakfast and lunch menus.
Serving speciality teas and coffees including Fidela Coffee from Coleraine, great food, homemade treats, afternoon teas, and of course the best beer in town, this family run business is open Tues- Sat from 10 am- 3 pm.
We were invited to sample the lunch menu, and we were impressed with the variety of dishes on offer, many of which can be adapted to suit dietary requirements.

The vegan Spiced Lentil and Quinoa Sausage Roll would make a terrific light lunch, and was served with dressed salad leaves and a homemade relish.

The daily special of a Chicken Taco Wrap was served with Salt & Pepper fries, and we loved the warming Seafood Gratin, bursting with smoked haddock, salmon and cod, in a delicious sauce with baby potatoes and spinach, topped with cheese and served with Hilden Stout Bread. Comfort food at its best!

We finished with some great sweet treats; the homemade dark chocolate cookies were in a league of their own!

We also had a look round the Brewery itself: guided tours can be booked every Wednesday to Friday, and we thoroughly enjoyed a glass or two of Belfast Blonde, and Hilden Halt.

There’s plenty of on-site parking, The Stables is dog friendly, and there’s a coffee/tea and scone deal for £5 on Tues, Wed and Thurs.
