The Nines
In an iconic Bangor building, The Nines Bar, Restaurant & Boutique Hotel has a contemporary bar area with an intimate yet relaxed restaurant, and a terrace with gorgeous sea views.
We were invited to try the new Spring Menu launching on March 1st which features a special promotional offer of £10 off per person when you order 2 courses or more before 6.30pm Monday-Saturday.
The perfect start to any meal is a great cocktail, and we chose a Signature “Chill Pill” with vodka, green chartreuse, pineapple shrub and a hint of cinnamon. Traditional cocktails are also available-the Negroni was second to none!
To begin, we had some spicy Tempura Broccoli with miso mayo, black bean & chilli crunch, and perfectly griddled Scallops with hints of cucumber, yogurt, dill, turmeric & lemon. We also shared some delicious Padrón Peppers with a crunchy, hazelnutty Dukkah.
We then enjoyed the Fish of the Day, a beautifully cooked fillet of Cod, with lemon butter cream, ravioli & samphire, and a Puttanesca Trofie Pasta with confit cherry tomatoes, chilli, garlic, Kalamata olives, capers and with the addition of prawns this made the dish extra special.
To finish, the Chocolate Shell filled with a chocolate mousse and served with toasted coconut, amarena cherries, & a coconut sorbet was devilishly decadent.

Sugar Rays
We were invited to try out the new Bottomless Brunch menu at Sugar Rays in Dundonald Omnipark. Sugar Rays offers a variety of delicious food options; from homemade beef burgers, steak tacos & freshly made pizzas, to chicken sizzlers & great veggie dishes: Sugar Rays has it all!
The fully licensed venue has a great choice of drinks to choose from; beer, wine, Prosecco, Mimosas, Mocktails, and spectacular Strawberry Daiquiris, all bottomless for a full 90 minutes!
The Brunch deal started with a sharing platter of chips and dips, to enjoy with our drinks.
Sugar Rays’ “Homeslice” pizzas have a sourdough base using a mature starter culture then left to prove for 48 hours to maximise flavour, and we couldn’t resist the “Marg Babes” with house tomato sauce, Fior De Latte, basil & olive oil.
This tasty treat was accompanied by a portion of Confused Fries, one of many “fancy fries” options on the menu, with grated cheese, garlic mayo and scallions.
The portion sizes at Sugar Rays are on the large side-you certainly won’t leave hungry, and the sizzling Salt n Chilli Chicken served with fries was a fabulously filling feast!
Sugar Rays’ Bottomless Brunch is terrific value at £32.50 per head including chips & dips, choice of one main dish, bottomless drinks, and a great pop soundtrack, perfect for get togethers with family and friends. Served every Saturday 12:00-16:00.

At Cinch Clinic in Holywood, V-Sculpt, a non-surgical body contouring treatment unique to NI, can help you achieve your desired body shape. Through muscle stimulating energy & Radio Frequency to stimulate contractions in targeted areas, this results in enhanced muscle tone & definition & is non-invasive & pain-free. As keen cyclists we used the session to begin building leg strength for all the extra cycling miles we hope to complete during the better weather.
