Fareshare NI – Our recent visit

The campaign united Translink, FareShare (operated in Northern Ireland by Homeless Connect), and media partners U105 and Belfast Live in a shared mission: to collect enough food and funds to provide at least 30,000 meals for people experiencing hunger across Northern Ireland at Christmas.

Recently, we visited the Fareshare NI collection and distribution warehouse in Mallusk, and we were blown away by the scale of the operation, and the incredible work carried out by the project, not just at Christmas, but throughout the year.

With 1 in 5 households facing food poverty in 2026, the kindness of strangers is more essential than ever in order to put food on the table, whether it’s through food donations, volunteering, or monetary aid.
