The Queen's Hotel

The Queen’s hotel – A relaxed Belfast base in the Queen’s Quarter

Practical rooms, optional breakfast available for a small fee per person, and easy access to the Queen’s Quarter by public transport. A short walk from Queen’s University, the Botanic Gardens.

The Queen's Hotel

The Room

Earlier this summer, we called into Queen’s Hotel, in the heart of Belfast’s Queen’s Quarter, for some lunch and drinks on its sunny terrace.

This familiar Victorian building on the corner of University Street and Botanic Avenue has recently been updated and transformed into a brilliant new hospitality venue.

Part of The Warren Group, a growing collection of boutique resorts and dining destinations across Northern Ireland, Queen’s Hotel is a relaxed base from which to enjoy everything this buzzing and vibrant area has to offer. It’s conveniently located near the University, Botanic Gardens, and Lyric Theatre, and we couldn’t wait to return and enjoy an overnight stay.

The spacious, contemporary rooms are tastefully decorated, and ours featured accents of warm browns and cobalt blues, with beautiful, white, louvred shutters at the windows which afforded a fantastic view of Botanic Avenue.

We also loved the retro carpet design which perfectly complemented the choice of artwork and overall colour palette throughout, and the room included all the amenities you’d expect from a modern urban retreat.

The hotel’s Practitioner Bar and Restaurant serves fantastic small plates and main courses by chef Artur Fron, renowned for his incredible Street Food Atelier menus, and there’s an optional breakfast available.

And as well as overnight stays, Queen’s Hotel can also provide a boutique setting for intimate weddings, special occasions, and relaxed receptions, with flexible packages to suit all budgets, right in the heart of the city.

The Evening Meal – The Practitioner

Pre dinner drink and cocktails

The Queen’s Hotel, an iconic Victorian building situated in the heart of Belfast’s Queen’s Quarter,  conveniently located near the University, Botanic Gardens, and Lyric Theatre, is home to the Practitioner Bar and Restaurant.

Serving fantastic sharing plates and main courses by chef Artur Fron, renowned for his incredible Street Food Atelier menus, The Practitioner was the ideal spot to enjoy a bite to eat on our recent stay.

With Tapas small plates, Street Food dishes, and Pub Grub options, there’s something to suit everyone. To start we had some juicy, sizzling Garlic Butter King Prawns with chilli, parsley and toasted sourdough to soak up the delicious juices.

We also enjoyed the Pan con Tomate on grilled sourdough with garlic and olives, and the smokey Charred Hispi Cabbage with peppery romesco and crunchy toasted almonds.

Then to follow, a moist, crispy-coated Korean Fried Buttermilk Chicken Burger with a gochujang glaze, sesame slaw, and pickled cucumber, on a brioche bun with fries, and a plant-based Cauliflower Katsu Curry in a Japanese-style sauce with jasmine rice and pickles, all accompanied by a portion of Patatas Bravas ‘Atelier’ with smoked paprika bravas sauce, scallions, and garlic aioli.

At The Practitioner, superb Streetfood-style dishes, excellent cocktails (watch this space for news of some exciting new mixologist developments), and a casual, convivial atmosphere, all come together to make Queen’s Hotel, and The Practitioner Bar, the ideal city spot to relax and unwind.

Breakfast

A small selection of continental breakfastf choices and a cooked Ulster Fry. Though we’d like to thank the chef and team for providing us with a vegetarian alternative.
