This September, Belfast’s famous Merchant Hotel will pop the cork on a month-long celebration dedicated to the nation’s favourite fizz* as its popular Festival of Prosecco returns for 2025.

Running throughout September, the sparkling series of events promises indulgent picnics, tasting events, delectable dinners and brand-new immersive experiences, all paired with the finest bubbles. After serving more than 5,000 glasses of Prosecco at last year’s events, the iconic AA five-star hotel will elevate the celebrations with a fresh programme brimming with fizz and flair.

New for 2025Prosecco Passeggiata– a collaboration between The Merchant and award-winning tour company, Taste and Tour – invites guests to step into the Italian tradition of the evening stroll, coming together with friends to wander, chat and unwind before dinner, in the heart of Belfast. On Saturday 6th and 13th September at 1.30pm, special walking tours will provide a guided afternoon of premium Prosecco pours, pairings, aroma challenges, taste tests and indulgent delights, taking in rooftop views, and one of the city’s most luxurious lounges amongst the hand-picked stops. After a sell-out run in 2024, the popular Prosecco Picnics return to The Merchant’s stunning Roof Garden on Sunday 14th, 21st and 28th September, offering guests the chance to relax with panoramic views of the city, whilst indulging in a picnic hamper with a selection of delectable sandwiches, charcuterie for two (cured meats, cheese selection, olives, stuffed peppers, pickles, chutneys, crackers, sourdough bread), heritage tomato salad, strawberries and cream, raspberry frangipane tart and a glass of Prosecco Valdo Origine. Tickets cost £52.50pp.

The Paint and Prosecco Workshop returns by popular demandon Sunday 7th September. Led by Sinéad Dermott from The Art and Design Factory, this artistic event offers guests the chance to create their own masterpiece while sipping three glasses of Prosecco in the stunning surrounds of The Merchant’s Rita Duffy suite. Tickets cost £59.50pp, and include three glasses of Valdo prosecco per person and all art materials required.

Guest favourite, the Battle of the Bubbles, returns for two outings on Thursday 18th and 25th September at The Merchant’s Roof Garden. Join wine experts Noel McMahon (Febvre Wines) and Mark Allen for a tasting showdown of Prosecco, sparkling wine and Champagne, accompanied by gourmet finger food and sparkling conversation. Tickets cost £69.50pp.

The Festa del Prosecco at Berts Jazz Bar on Wednesday 24th September at 7.15pm promises an evening of elegance and indulgence. Hosted by Riccardo Vendrame of Valdo Spumanti, guests will enjoy a bespoke four-course meal paired with exceptional Valdo Proseccos, all set to the sounds of live jazz. Tickets cost £89.50pp.

Throughout September, fizz fans can enjoy a selection of Prosecco-themed cocktails across The Merchant’s restaurants and bars as well as an exclusive Valdo Prosecco tasting flight in The Merchant Cocktail Bar.
