Monad in East Belfast: a warm contemporary interior, a menu with a modern vibe, and some stunningly good cocktails, wines and plates.
To start, we enjoyed a few excellent cocktails; a tequila based “Infante”, “English Marmalade”-a citrussy delight with a whisper of Campari, and “Bananarac”- a Sazerac with a tropical twist.
We began our great value early bird deal with some wonderfully oozy Comte Gougères, earthy Mushroom Arancini, fresh Salmon with Cucumber, Buttermilk & Dill, Ham Hock with pickles & sourdough toast, and a delicious bread selection.
Mains included a crispy skinned Seabass with brassicas & mussels, Celeriac with roasted hazelnuts and Sherry, and Braised Beef with mash, onions & black garlic, served with Parmesan fries, Rosemary potatoes & winter greens, and accompanied by a light, fruity Pinot Noir.
We returned to the top notch cocktail list for a nightcap; both the Bohemian Martini and Monad Old Fashioned were a terrific way to finish an evening of first rate food and drink.
Monad, “The One”? It certainly deserves to be the one everyone will be talking about!
