🔵 Dunville’s BBQ Sauce by Rock a doodle do hot sauce
Millar’s Restaurant, Finaghy
What an absolute treat to be invited to Millar’s Restaurant & Wine Bar to sample their new Summer Menu.
Over a delicious five course tasting menu, we enjoyed some of the highlights of the brand new dishes on offer, championing local, seasonal produce, and accompanied by some stunning wine pairings.

We loved the Hot Smoked Salmon Amuse Bouche, with its quenelle of beetroot tartare & quail’s egg, and the Prawn & Crab Ravioli was complemented by a German Riesling.
The Pea, Parmesan & Asparagus Arancini was topped with a crispy cheese tuile, and the Duck Breast was perfectly pink and was served with coloured cauliflower and sweet potato.

Our dish of the evening was Course Four: Pan-Fried Monkfish with pommes purée, mushroom, chicory, and a velvety clam sauce, paired with a gorgeous French Pinot Noir. Sublime!

To finish, a palate cleanser of sorbet swimming in Whitley Neill’s summery peach gin liqueur led us to our final course, a decadently dramatic Dark Chocolate Sphere filled with mango & caramel mousse, & drizzled with a luxurious hot chocolate sauce.

Thanks again to the team at Millar’s for such a warm welcome, totally top notch food & drink, and service with a smile.
Cleaver Holywood
Cleaver in Holywood is a new Modern European restaurant specialising in informal contemporary dining. The brand new cocktail list was literally hot off the press, & featured many of our favourites.
To start, the Smoked Salmon Arancini were served with a thermidor aioli & a fennel salad, & the Smoked Mackerel Pâté, spread on charred sourdough, was a smooth umami delight. All dietary requirements are catered for, and the chef adapted the Roast Irish Corn Fed Chicken Breast dish by omitting the toulouse sausage & replacing it with a warming sweet potato & lentil dahl.
And the Pan Fried Salmon with Olive Oil Mash & broccoli was delicious. Desserts were also first rate, & the Double Chocolate Torte with mascarpone, & the Strawberry & Buttermilk Panna Cotta with shortbread & mint were the perfect way to round off an outstanding Sunday lunch.

We tried their Dunville’s Whiskey BBQ sauces which were developed through a collaboration with Echlinville Distillery. Using Dunville’s 1808 & Three Crowns Peated whiskies, they have created a pair of stunning sauces, Maple, & Smoky Chipotle, which are perfect for anyone who is looking to add something special to their next barbecue.
