The Old Inn
Our Sunday Lunch Review HERE
The Old Inn, Crawfordsburn is bursting with character, from its cosy corners and elegant interiors to the stunning views over the beautiful country park.
The Old Inn Restaurant, has created a seasonal menu featuring both homely classics & modern dining, & The 1614 Bar exudes a relaxed vibe, with a crackling fire and mixologists stirring up your drink of choice.
We were delighted to be invited to enjoy a sumptuous Sunday Lunch in the Restaurant. We were greeted by Karen, who showed us to our table where Prosecco was already chilling in an ice bucket-exactly what the doctor ordered on the warmest day of the summer so far!

We were looked after efficiently and attentively by Cahal, for whom nothing was too much trouble. Starters included a Prawn Cocktail with Treacle Wheaten Bread, a glass of Mixed Melon with Ginger & Lemongrass Syrup, a creamy Whipped Goats Cheese with Gem Heart, Beetroot, Candied Pecans & Pommery Mustard Dressing, and a Semi Sun Dried Tomato & Goat’s Cheese Arancini with Tomato Tapenade, all of which were a terrific way to start the meal.
For main course, the Pan Fried Salmon with Petit Pois  La Française, and the Roast Breast Of Chicken with Sage And Onion Stuffing & Pan Gravy were traditional favourites served with all the trimmings.
To finish, the Passionfruit Panna Cotta with Ginger Cake & Mango Fruit Sorbet had the perfect “wobble”, and the Sponge Pudding with Caramel Sauce & Brown Bread & Whiskey Ice Cream was rich and chocolatey. And the Irish Cheese Board with Grapes, Fruit Chutney & Crackers was enough for two to share.
A lovely afternoon, with excellent service, delicious food, comfortable surroundings and wonderful company!

Bullitt’s award-winning restaurant Taylor & Clay has had a gorgeous new makeover. Retaining its glorious open kitchen built around an incredible bespoke Asador wood-fired grill, the Head Chef & his team cook the best quality local meat, seafood and vegetables over roaring flames, delivering delicious chargrilled flavours. There’s also a carefully curated collection of world wines, inspired by countries with grill-cooking at their culinary core.

As we decided what to order, we nibbled on “Breads & Bits” and sipped a glass of bubbles. To start, we couldn’t resist the Scallops & Torched Mackerel dishes from the specials board which didn’t disappoint, & the Tenderstem Broccoli, & Crispy Duck dishes were equally good.

The catch of the day of Whole Sea Bass was outstanding, and the other dishes of Monkfish Skewer, Free Range Irish Chicken, and the vegan Wood Fired Flatbread with burnt squash & smoked corn were also absolutely delicious.
And to finish, we shared a fabulously tangy Passionfruit & Lemon Tart. It’s great to have you back, Taylor & Clay.

We called in to Scorched Earth Designs today on the Belmont Road & met Chris who was so helpful talking about the local products he stocks. We bought a beautiful set of handmade coasters representing the North Coast. Chris was then able to engrave the reverse with a personal message.
