Serving up tasty Irish dishes with a modern twist, Banbha on the Andersonstown Road has a terrific menu highlighting healthy, seasonal produce with ingredients sourced from local suppliers.
āBanbhaā was one of a group of deities in Irish mythology associated with prosperity, well-being, and agriculture, and this is reflected not only in the gorgeous artwork on display, but in the delicious local food; from crafted sandwiches & brunch plates, to lunches and sweet treats, thereās a wealth of goodies on offer.

We had the Eggs Royale; perfectly poached Ballygarvey eggs and Ring of Kerry smoked salmon with hollandaise, on Italian sourdough bread. This deliciously soft yet crisp baked sourdough was also amazing in the Buffalo Chicken with Smoked Cheese sandwich packed with lettuce, red onion, tomato, spicy jalapeƱos, and drizzled with southwest sauce.
The extensive menu also includes Banbha Breakfasts, Cold Wraps, Homemade Banana Bread, Pancake Stacks, Granola Bowls, Bagels, Avocado Toast, and Omelettes.
The homemade Sausage Rolls are also popular; todayās fillings were Cranberry & Brie, and Smoked Cheese & Caramelised Onion.
And thereās a new menu on the way. We had a sneak peek and weāll definitely have to try the plant-based Vegan Cooked Breakfast, and the
Shakshuka next time we call.
To finish, we enjoyed a Warm Cinnamon Roll, and a slice of moist, crumbly Carrot Cake.

Serving up a variety of Asian dishes from Thai, Chinese, and Japanese cuisine, Waka Asian Fusion in Lurgan recently opened this summer, and we were invited along to try the food.

The menu includes lots of traditional Asian plates, from Chow Mein and other noodle dishes, to a variety of saucy favourites such as satay, green curry, and honey & chilli. Thereās also a Bao Bun selection, and Waka Express All-in-one Box Deals.
We placed our order, and while we waited, we chose from the dizzying array of the latest Japanese and Chinese fruit and bubble tea-style drinks, which were great fun, and surprisingly refreshing.
Our food arrived in no time at all, piping hot in little cardboard containers, perfect for eating from with either chopsticks, or more traditional cutlery, if you must!
Our starters of Salt and Chilli King Prawns were crispy, lightly battered, and fried with onions, carrots and peppers in a spicy salt & chilli seasoning, and the Duck Spring Rolls were tasty and full of flavour.
Waka has a great Vegetarian section, and we were seriously impressed by the Fried Tofu in Japanese Teriyaki Sauce with a side of fluffy Boiled Rice.Ā
The Chicken Pad Thai Noodles were also terrific (to which we added some Szechuan Sauce to ramp up the heat!)
The portion sizes are pretty impressive and sure to satisfy the hungriest diner. Another must-order dish for spice fans is a side of the phenomenally good Salt & Chilli Chips.
Waka Lurgan on the Portadown Rd has a great variety of tasty Asian dishes at very reasonable prices, and is open 13:00-22:00 daily.
