Broker
Broker Wine Bar is an exciting new venture from the team behind Oliver’s on the Upper Newtownards Road, and is now open for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and in the evening. We love the stylish interior, relaxed vibe, and tempting choices.
At night, Broker has a fusion style menu, with a variety of Asian and Mediterranean dishes. There’s also a great cocktail and wine selection.
From the Small Plates “Land and Sea” section we chose the Miso cod gyoza with orange ponzu dip, and the Mini crispy beef tacos with avocado puree, salsa, & cress, and from “Soil” we enjoyed the Vegetarian maki style rolls with a wasabi lime soy dip, Falafel fritters with sweet pepper ketchup & garlic dip, and the Smoked crispy cauliflower wings.
We also loved the Sharing Platter of Grilled king prawn, chilli garlic yuzu sauce, and finished our evening with an Irish Cheeseboard.
It’s fantastic to have this great new addition to the East Belfast dining scene, and Broker is already becoming a firm favourite with its customers.

Six by Nico – Neverland
The literary themes of JM Barrie’s “Peter Pan”, from unlocking your inner child to freeing your imagination and escaping adult-life, provide the concept behind Six By Nico’s latest incredible tasting menu.
So we were delighted to be invited to embark on a journey to “Neverland”; a place of wonder and nostalgia, where dreams are born and time never planned.
We started with a Tinker Bell-inspired aperitif, “Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust”, with Elderflower Liqueur, Green Apple, London Dry Gin, & Lime, accompanied by a “Happy Thoughts” snack of Mac & Cheese Croquettes with Gherkin Ketchup & Chipotle Emulsion.
It’s essential to “Use Your Imagination” for Course 1: a unique take on a Margarita Pizza, then “The Lost Boys” were the inspiration for Course 2: Cheese ‘Toastie’, with Celeriac Remoulade, Pickled Mustard, Golden Raisin & Black Garlic Emulsion.
Course 3, “Captain Codfish,” was a creamy Shellfish Risotto, with Smoked Cod Botarga, which was followed by the Lost Boys’ rallying cry, “Bangarang!” for Course 4; Black Pollock, Bang Bang Sauce, Charred Cucumber, Satay Emulsion, & Pak Choi.
No meal in Neverland is ever complete without a rambunctious “Food Fight”, and Course 5, Gnocchi à la Parisienne, with Red Pepper Romesco, Saffron Emulsion, & Tarragon Salsa Verde, was a riot of colour & flavour. And the perfect finish to this magical menu, Course 6, featured one of Peter’s favourites; “Baked Mammee-Apple Custard”, a Baked Salted Caramel Delice, with Caramel Mousseline, Buttermilk Ice Cream, & Maple.

Neverland is a deliciously creative menu, so don’t miss this enchanting foodie adventure. Just take the second star to the right, straight on ‘til morning.

Van Gogh Exhibit in Belfast: The Immersive Experience.
