Wagamama Odyssey Place
We were delighted to get a sneak peek at the brand new Wagamama, opening soon at Odyssey Place.
The restaurant marks the second Belfast store for the hugely popular chain, and weāre big fans of its Asian-inspired and Japanese dishes.
Based on the fast-paced, ramen bars of Japan, Wagamama has been serving up fresh Asian flavours since 1992. We always love the curries, from mild and comforting, to aromatic and spicy, and the Chicken Katsu is an absolute treat; panko-breadcrumbed chicken with sticky white rice, dressed salad, pickles, and a Katsu Curry sauce-we usually make ours hot!!
We also ordered the Salmon Teriyaki Soba from the Teppanyaki section: sizzling noodles straight from the grill with mangetout, bok choi, onion, chilli, beansprouts, sesame seeds, and a seared pink fillet of salmon. Very tasty indeed!
Sit, slurp, and smile, as you enjoy lunch or dinner in the new Odyssey Place restaurant. The deliciously simple, well balanced food, always packs a healthy punch, and is made freshly every day in Wagamamaās open kitchen. And thanks to Paul, for his attentive service.

The Deer’s Head
Often, weāre asked about our recommendations for the best pub grub in Belfast. There are plenty of great bars to choose from, but one of our favourites has to be The Deerās Head, which serves up some of the best bar food in the city centre.
In collaboration with Urban Scullery, the menu features brunches, bar snacks, small plates, burgers, seafood, desserts, and many other terrific dishes.
We called in for lunch with a few friends, and tucked into spicy Prawn Pil Pil: poached tiger prawns in garlic & chilli butter served with homemade Scullery focaccia, and a Fish Supper with golden battered local haddock, mushy peas, Scullery curry, and handcut chips.
The Chicken & Ham Pie was packed with roast chicken breast, ham hock, and leeks in a creamy sauce, smothered in champ, topped with Irish cheddar, and served with seasonal garden vegetables.
There are some excellent meat-free options too. The Roasted Cauliflower Risotto was finished with Bó Rua Farmās multi-award-winning, artisan, semi-hard, cheddar-style farmhouse cheese. And the Garden Burger had a vegan pea & lentil patty in a homemade bun dressed with Lyonnaise onions, tomato chutney, salad, and cheese, served with chips.
And as always, a portion of Jonnyās phenomenal Battered Pickled Onions had to be ordered-perfect with a pint of our favourite beer from the list, a malty āRed Cow Red Aleā.
This fully operational on-site craft brewery serves a fabulous range of small batch beers, house specials, and rotating guest draughts, alongside Urban Sculleryās delicious food.

Belfast Cheesecake Company
It was great to see Belfast Cheesecake Company opening a new shop on the Belmont Rd in East Belfast recently.
These bespoke handmade cheesecakes are lusciously creamy, and are sold in convenient tubs, or by the slice.
With many flavours to choose from, thereās something to suit all tastes. Favourite varieties have included Fifteens, Battenberg, Milkyway Crispy Rolls, Lemon Meringue, and Choc Swiss roll! There are even vegan cheesecakes available.
We loved the Jammie Joey, Raspberry Ruffle, and Turkish Delight options. And these yummy treats are also available at St Georgeās Market.
You can grab a coffee and cheesecake for £5 from the shop.
