We were delighted to be invited to try  a ‘Nu’ concept of dining out at the fabulous Nu Delhi Lounge, a 150 seater Indian restaurant on Great Victoria Street in Belfast.

Using the best local produce, and a fusion of traditional Punjabi spices the chefs at Nu Delhi have created a menu of light, tasty and vibrant regional dishes, and we couldn’t wait to try what was on offer.

First, we were treated to a fantastic starter sharing board, which included a variety of tasty appetisers; we loved the Tandoori King Prawns, the Masala Chilli Squid, and the Onion Bhajis, although everything was so good, it was hard to pick a favourite!

To follow, the Monkfish Chettinadu had monkfish tikka fillets served in a coconut & coriander sauce with mustard seeds & curry leaf to deliver a gentle heat, and the stunning Paneer Shaslik had enormous chunks of homemade cottage cheese, with onions and peppers, marinated and cooked in the tandoori grill and served with Masala potatoes. Sensational!

Renowned for amazing Indian cuisine, great drinks & cocktails, excellent service, and a sophisticated cosmopolitan vibe, Nu Delhi combines the traditional with the modern to create a unique and delicious dining experience.

With its informal atmosphere and cool, contemporary feel, Waterman serves classic European-style dishes championing quality local produce.

To start, we enjoyed some delicious house focaccia with whipped onion butter, golden parmesan arancini with truffle mayo, and fresh local cured mackerel, with beetroot & granny smith apple.

Our main courses were also outstanding; a comforting, earthy bowl of artichoke risotto with pickled mushrooms, and a beautifully cooked fillet of stone bass, with tangy romesco & cauliflower, served with a side of charred cabbage sprinkled with onion crumb.

And we couldn’t resist ordering the dessert special to share, a gorgeously moist blood orange and almond tart with creamy mascarpone, which brought to an end another wonderful evening of superb food, drink and service at Waterman.

The Chancer Whiskey

Buy HERE

The Irish Whiskey Bonding Company, from the Rademon Estate Distillery, has two fantastic premium blends; a delicious mid-week dram, “The Grafter” and our favourite sweet & smoky sipper, “The Chancer”. This premium blend of 5 Irish Whiskeys including, Shortcross Peated Single Malt Irish Whiskey, triple and double distilled malt alongside pot still and grain, aged in ex-bourbon, sherry casks and virgin American Oak.

We used The Chancer to create a smoky twist on one of our favourite cocktails, the Boulevardier.

Irish Boulevardier.

A peaty, grownup version of the Boulevardier, a sibling of the Negroni, using Irish Whiskey instead of gin. Smokin’!

Ingredients:

🍊1 part Chancer Whiskey

🍊1 part Sweet Vermouth

🍊1 part Campari

🍊Orange peel to garnish

Method:

Stir the whiskey, vermouth and Campari with ice, strain into a whiskey glass with a large ice cube, & garnish with orange peel.
