The Ivanhoe Hotel has a bright, spacious, contemporary bistro offering many favourite traditional dishes throughout the day, which are great value and pretty tasty too!Ā
We called in for a late lunch, and the restaurant was still buzzing with customers on a Wednesday afternoon: The Ivanhoe is evidently a popular lunchtime spot!
We chose one of the daily specials-a creamy Seafood Tagliatelle crammed with juicy prawns, salmon, and smoked haddock accompanied by garlic bread, and a very tasty Fishcake topped with wilted greens and a poached egg in a delicious wholegrain mustard sauce. We also loved the look of the Italian Stone Baked Pizzas as they left the pass: thin, crispy and generous in size! Next time!
On the Saintfield Road between Belfast and Carryduff, The Ivanhoe is definitely worth a visit to enjoy a relaxing meal at any time of the day.Ā

Kamakura East
Kamakura Sushi & Ramen has two fantastic traditional Japanese restaurants in Belfast: on Donegal Pass and the Holywood Road, so we paid a long overdue visit to Kamakura East for some fabulous food.Ā
To start, we had some skewers of sweet & sticky Yaki Tuna, crispy Prawn Tempura, fried Vegetable Gyoza, and some Edamame sprinkled with chilli and salt.
To follow, we enjoyed the BBQ Chicken Teriyaki Soba, the sizzling Breaded Tofu Teppanyaki with rice, and the spectacular Matsu Sushi Platter; ten pieces of delicious Nigiri and four huge Seafood Tempura Sushi Rolls filled with salmon, tuna and asparagus.
Kamakura East serves amazing, fresh and tasty Asian cuisine, is great value for money, and is BYOB.Ā

On The Square Emporium, in Sydenham Business Park, is a treasure-trove of antiques and vintage items, perfect for obtaining that one-off gift idea, or to help create a home full of personality and inspiring decor.
The warehouse is packed full of furniture, collectibles, home accessories, textiles and much more.
We found the ideal gift for one of our friends from the Magpie Gifts x Hornsea Collection; a quirky, hand-glazed Cat Cruet set with decals from John Clappisonās original 1960s artwork, and matching wooden coasters.
And we couldnāt resist another little āmouse musicianā to keep our French Horn player company! If you know, you know!
