Roam
Serving the finest local ingredients, Roam is a terrific restaurant in Belfastās City Centre. The beautifully presented and delicious dishes comprise a menu which changes with the seasons, and we were really looking forward to a return visit.
We started our lunch with some moist Stout & Treacle Bread with Smoked Sea Salt Butter. We couldnāt wait to try the Smoked Eel Kimchi Tartlets again-small, dainty, but bursting with flavour, and we also enjoyed the Prawns with Tomato, Red Pepper & Sourdough.

To follow, the Sea Trout with Broccoli, Kale, Parsley & Miso, and the Seasonal Veg Pithivier with Roast Carrot & Thyme Gravy were both prettily plated and featured a variety of tastes and textures, served with sides of buttery Crushed Baby Potatoes, Organic Veg, & Hand Cut Chips. We also had a perfectly pink Flat Iron Steak with Grilled Greens, Miso Onion & a Beef Sauce.
Do make sure to leave room for Dessert; the Raisin and Date Pudding with Apple Caramel & Rum Ice Cream, and the Chocolate Cremeux with Hazelnut, Orange & Caramelised Milk Ice Cream were both sweet sensations!
Roam: attentive but informal, simple but sophisticated. It was a pleasure to be back.

Noble
Our first trip to Noble in Holywood (and after all these years, we canāt quite believe weāre writing that!) was a long overdue delight. This buzzing restaurant, featuring a changing, seasonal menu, has had a recent addition in the shape of a downstairs winebar with an evolving, exciting wine list and selection of nibbles.
We had booked the popular Sunday Lunchtime sitting, and we were bowled over by the delicious plates on offer, starting with an oozing Cod Kiev with tartare sauce, a smooth Chicken Liver Parfait, and two specials, a fresh Crab on Sourdough, and some buttery Baked Prawns.
Mains were also faultless; a Sunday Roast of perfectly pink beef with all the trimmings, a whole Sole served on the bone, and a wonderfully earthy Spiced Cauliflower with crispy mac ānā cheese and golden raisins.

Then, downstairs again to the winebar to relax with some delectable desserts; a sumptuous Chocolate Delice, and a superb Irish Cheeseboard, accompanied by some rather excellent cocktails.
Ernest Hemingway once wrote, āThere is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self,ā and what an utterly ennobling experience this was. We canāt wait to make a return visit in the very near future: simply sublime.

Murphy & Bailey
Murphy, the Lhasa Apso & Bailey, the Sprussell are the inspiration behind this brilliant local pet store on the Belmont Rd, bringing the very best selection of accessories, gifts and treats for dogs, cats and us, the people that love them.
Curating beautiful gifts, stationery and homeware featuring dogs and cats, the team at Murphy & Bailey also has its own range of products for our furry friends, and also supports companies focusing on quality, ethical manufacturing, recycling, and cruelty-free products.

Our rather elderly pussy cat, Pepper, who has become incredibly fussy in her old age and will turn her nose up at almost all generic ābrandedā cat foods, will only eat meals in tiny little gourmet-style packets with words like, āsavoury cake,ā āpĆ¢tĆ©,ā & āmousseā emblazoned upon them. And then she gets bored and demands something different within a week. We kid you not! So we had to pop into Murphy & Bailey to see if they could help solve our feline food-planning issues, as quality & variety seem to be the answer.
Result!! The Naturo Chicken, Cheshire Catās Garden, and Salmon Kibble were all an absolute hit! Weāll be back for more!
