A Taste of Great British Menu at The Croft, Templepatrick.
What a pleasure to be amongst the first people to attend an evening of fine dining hosted by two tremendously talented chefs, the amazing Marion Lancial and Callum Irwin, following their time on Great British Menu.

This exclusive dining experience has been built around dishes from the show, and the five course tasting menu was designed to showcase the story, creativity and journey behind each plate.
We were welcomed with a champagne reception, and canapés of beef tartare tartlets and cheese gougères, before we were ushered to the dining room which was beautifully laid out in white linens, twinkling candelabras, and sprigs of foliage.

To start, ‘Beware of the Rose’ was a striking beetroot rose, with creamed shallots, ricotta and goats cheese, crispy parsnips, brioche and smoked butter, and this was followed by ‘The Mussel Picker’, a moist, flaky fillet of halibut in a mussel veloute, with pickled mussels, salty sea herbs, and pangrattato.

The Main Course, ‘Belfast’, was a lamb rump, with caramelised carrot, parsnip puree, potato fondant, confit leek, and a lamb jus, or roasted Hispi Cabbage for vegetarians.

The pre-dessert palate cleanser was ‘Bofur’s Barrel Breaker’ with its zingy green apple sorbet, calvados, and a chilli tuile, and the ‘Lace and Secret’ dessert featured chocolate mousse, cherry and pistachio financier, poached cherries, tonka bean, and caramelized pistachio, topped with a stunningly intricate chocolate lace tuile.

The truly delightful setting of The Croft, Templepatrick, a recently renovated Airbnb just outside Belfast, made for the perfect venue for this private dining experience. And its superb detached event space alongside delightful accommodation provided the perfect backdrop for such a special occasion.
The first Taste of Great British Menu in June is now sold out, but bookings will soon be open for the next 5 course dining event, with paired wines, in September.
