- The Margarita Matchup has over 300 different Margaritas, meaning tequila lovers will be able to find their perfect match, whatever their taste.

Jose Cuervo’s novel MargaritaMatchUp.ie website is powered by an algorithm developed in partnership with celebrity behavioural psychologist Jo Hemmings and tequila expert Maria Modafferi, creating over 300 Margarita variations, individually tailored to personality traits.
The quirky online quiz invites users to take a personality test, probing their personally traits through seven simple questions, after which their bespoke Margarita is revealed.
Whether you’re introverted, extroverted, cautious or careless, the Margarita Matchup platform ensures that the perfect pairing will always be found, tailoring every component from ingredients and composition right down to garnishes and glassware.
To celebrate National Margarita Day and the launch of Margarita Matchup tool, Jose Cuervo ambassador and tequila expert, Maria Modafferi is visiting bars in Cork, Dublin and Belfast this week. Celebrating the popular cocktail, and challenging local bartenders to discover their own margarita personality.
“Irish people are famous for their big personalities, so we thought, where better to put our Margarita MatchUp tool to the test? Says Maria.
“The margarita is an exceptionally versatile cocktail, with a variation to suit every taste. We had so much fun creating the Margarita Match Up tool and it’s surprising how much someone’s drink choice can mirror their personality.
“We found that kind, empathetic characters are led to drinks made from sweet honey and featuring delicate, pink Himalayan salt, while those who possess more boisterous, exuberant and intense traits might find themselves coupled with fierce blood orange and crisp, crushed ice. The possibilities are endless.”

It’s the year José Antonio de Cuervo was granted permission to land in the town of Tequila, Mexico by the King of Spain to harvest blue agave.
37 years later, his son, José María Guadalupe de Cuervo was granted the first license to produce and distribute tequila.

José Antonio de Cuervo, at the La Rojena Distillery, turned hundreds of agave plants into millions. This production culminated in the export of our barrels to California in 1852.
Cuervo developed advanced distillery machinery for the time, allowing us to set records by becoming the first brand to bottle tequila individually.
