“Taste of Loire Valley” CLASS SEPTEMBER 2025 COMMENCES!

All details on our website here :-

September….the very mention strikes fear into the hearts of teachers and students alike! But for a refreshing take on the dreaded “Back to School” experience, we headed down to Cyprus Avenue for the “Taste of Loire Valley” September Wine Skool class!

We enjoyed an evening of delicious food and wine from one of the most picturesque regions in France.

The Menu was stunning; Fouee bread with pistachio pork terrine, or Ewings smoked salmon. Chilled Conway Farm tomato bisque & St Tola ash goats cheese fritter, Confit sea trout with beurre blanc, marjoram & caper berry, Treacle beef carpaccio with short rib croquette & truffle, or Lemon Sole with BBQ prawns & café de paris butter, Crispy comber potatoes with Provence herb & Espelette pepper, and CA garden rhubarb tarte tatin & vanilla ice-cream.

To drink, we enjoyed Bubbles on arrival, Caves de la Tourangelle Touraine Sauvignon Blanc, Le Grand Fief Muscadet Sevre et Maine, Domaine Paul Thomas Sancerre Pinot Noir, Olga Raffault “La Fraich” 2023 Cabernet Franc, and a Loire Blossom cocktail with white wine, elderflower liqueur, citrus, & rosemary.

Excellent food, delicious wine and great company. What a “corker” of a night!

And don’t miss out on the next two Wine Skool Classes;

Fri 3rd October-“Taste of Tuscany”, and Fri 7 November-“Game and Grapes”.

Street Food Atelier

Street Food Atelier’s fantastic new menu is now available from chefs Artur & Jakub’s food truck situated at Boundary Taproom in East Belfast, featuring dishes bursting with autumnal spices and warming vibrant flavours.

Using seasonal, local ingredients, and taking inspiration from globally-inspired cuisine, the menu has something for everyone.

See menu, video, photos and review here :-

There’s always a great selection of meat-free dishes; the Fancy Mac & Cheese Bite is packed with the flavours of Young Buck blue cheese, habanero honey and thyme, the smoky Autumn Sweet Potato Wedges are glazed with maple syrup and have a chestnut crumb, and the Koffmans Fries are sprinkled with wild mushroom dust and drizzled with a Valley Blue Mayo. Earthy and delicious!

And there are plenty of superb seasonal dishes for meat-lovers too; Autumn Duck and Waffle with a sticky five spice glaze, pickled red cabbage and blackberry hoisin, Juniper-glazed Venison Roasties with mushrooms and ketchup, Slow Braised Irish Pork Belly Burnt Ends with MacIvors Cider caramel glaze, celeriac slaw and crackling, and Spiced Pumpkin Hot Wings with a chilli glaze, toasted pumpkin seeds and coriander. And all a snip at only £8 a plate!

What a fabulous autumnal feast for the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness! Watch out for exciting new food themes in the coming months. Street Food Atelier – where creativity hits the street.

FOLLIES

Northern Ireland Opera’s fantastic new production of Sondheim’s “Follies” is the perfect way to banish Belfast’s dark autumnal evenings in a whirl of sequins, feathers and fabulous tunes.

Behind the scenes interviews with Northern Ireland Opera who are performing FOLLIES in the Grand Opera House Belfast from 13 to 20 September.

This is an epic show and tickets are selling fast – don’t miss out.

Beautifully and skilfully directed by Cameron Menzies, and with musical direction by Greg Arrowsmith, this production had pace, style, wit and pathos, performed by a pitch-perfect 32 strong cast of local & national talent, including Lesley Garrett, one of the world’s most celebrated classical singers, and one of the UK’s finest jazz vocalists, Jacqueline Dankworth.

The set by Niall McKeever cleverly juxtaposed the run-down, crumbling old theatre, resplendent with plastic dust sheets and shabby scenery, with a delightfully camp and opulent blast from the past in all its technicolour glory. And the costumes were an absolute joy; from 1970s hostess dresses, to showgirl glitz, the attention to detail was incredible, and perfectly complemented the creative choreography by the West-End’s Jennifer Rooney.

It would be difficult, or probably impossible, to pick out a favourite performance. Every single dramatic moment, torch song ballad, and showstopping routine, was a tour de force. And to say any more would reveal too much, as this was a piece crammed with stunning musical and visual surprises.

This production marks a historic first-ever staging of the show in Northern Ireland, and is running at the Grand Opera House in Belfast from 13-20 September, so don’t miss it!
